🎰 D Lucky’s Rule of Thumb on Tipping Slot Machines in Vegas 💰 I’m writing this because the question I get asked nonstop is: “How much do you tip when you hit a jackpot?” Let’s set the record straight. Tipping used to be a voluntary act of generosity in Vegas. Now? It’s turned into pressure. A lot of people feel obligated to tip, even when they’re down thousands. And let’s be honest… most people are still down when they hit a jackpot. So here’s my take. And yeah, it might be controversial, but it’s my opinion based on years of hitting jackpots every single day. 👉 I tip $20 per jackpot, flat. Whether the jackpot is $1,200 or $15,000, that’s my rule of thumb. On rare occasions, I’ll tip more if the moment feels right. But generally? $20 is the number. Now let’s do some quick math… I hit anywhere from 10 to 40 jackpots a day, bouncing from casino to casino. Let’s say I hit 20 jackpots: 20 x $20 = $400 in tips And keep this in mind: Hitting 20 jackpots does NOT mean you’re up. In fact, most jackpots just cycle right back into the same machine. So by the end of the day, the slot attendant is up $400. And I might still be down. That’s why I also set aside $100 to $200 for myself, win or lose. This is my buffer. My non-negotiable. I don’t let it go back into the machine. That’s called discipline, and it’s the only real way to stay ahead long-term. Tipping $20 per hand pay is still a sign of generosity, it’s not about the amount, it’s about the gesture. Be smart, tip respectfully, and most importantly: tip within your means. Because at the end of the day, slots are random. There’s no guarantee. The only guarantee is what you keep in your pocket. 💬 Would love to hear your thoughts below, agree or disagree? Let’s talk about it.
