From the campsite to the exit at Whitehouse it took around 3/3.5 hours, again you’ll want to start this hike early if temperatures are high, the canyon widens considerably after a mile or so, and you will be hiking in full exposure if you start late. When to go? It’s suggested to go during milder months like spring or fall to avoid the summer monsoon season which can bring sudden and deadly flash floods, no access to water, and extreme high heat. The heat is definitely an important factor to consider, if you are not used to it, especially with the added weight of carrying enough water and supplies, heat exhaustion and heat stroke can come up suddenly, and with the remoteness of this canyon, getting medical attention quickly is out of the question.
