Our Casino ceiling mural is back! ✨ After undergoing conservation work, this set of circa 1920 paintings was officially reinstalled, and now our Casino looks as beautiful as ever. It’s interesting to know that the mural is composed of a set of paintings mounted on panels from different origins. Nine panels, described as 'Tiepolesque,' constitute the border of the design, while the three center panels were commissioned by Paul Thévenaz for Vizcaya. Since the composition of this mural is strikingly similar to Tiepolo’s frescoes for Villa Contarini in Venice (now Musée Jacquemart-André, Paris), it’s suggested that Vizcaya’s artistic director, Paul Chalfin, may have known of this fresco and taken inspiration from the eighteenth-century master for Vizcaya’s creation.
