Para participar en esta prueba tomaron la drástica decisión de convertirlos en Spyder con el claro objetivo de disminuir el area frontal y los 100 Kgs de peso que se ganaban con la operación. La carrera no tuvo demasiadas complicaciones para los pilotos de Mercedes en cuanto a competencia (ya que las grandes compañías como Jaguar, Ferrari o Alfa no acudieron al evento) pero sí sirvió para demostrar la rapidez y fiabilidad de los coches alemanes, consiguiendo las cuatro primeras posiciones. El vencedor fue Hermann Lang con el dorsal nº 21 y los triangulos de las aletas delanteras en color azul, versión que estáis viendo.
