En un debate ambos equipos deben turnarse para dar razones y argumentos a su favor, estos deben de ser validos utilizando la lógica y respaldándose de fuentes confiables, después de que cada equipo haya dado mínimo un argumento a su favor, el otro puede argumentar en su contra utilizando argumentos o razones que le beneficien. Un debate no tiene un ganador definido, la audiencia es la que decide cual equipo tiene mejores argumentos a favor o en contra pero es a decisión propia.
