MGM Resorts vs. Caesars Entertainment in Las Vegas – A battle that’s been simmering since the dawn of time. Considering I’ve logged stays at nearly all of their resorts, some multiple times, I figured it was due time to put them head to head on issues that are important to me, and people visiting Vegas that include: Which operator is giving better loyalty program offers? Which is giving a better resort experience that includes the check in process, which sounds boring, but isn’t as it can make or break the start of your vacation. Considering I’ve stayed at most hotels, I figured it’d be helpful to detail which offers the best hotel product in the low, mid, and upmarket tiers. Lower tier properties analyzed include Horseshoe, Flamingo, LINQ, and Harrah’s on the Caesars side of the street and Luxor and Excalibur on MGM’s. Mid-tier hotels include Paris and Planet Hollywood under the Caesars umbrella and MGM Grand, Park MGM, and New York New York under MGM Resorts’. Upscale resorts are where MGM Resorts brightly outshines Caesars Entertainment, boasting a robust lineup of Strip properties that include Aria, Vdara, Bellagio, The Cosmopolitan, Mandalay Bay, W, and NoMad at Park MGM. Caesars just has The Cromwell and Caesars Palace (which includes the Nobu Tower), both of which I describe as “trying” to be upscale, although The Cromwell is currently getting some renovation love as it becomes a Vanderpump Hotel. I also dig into the hotel renovation cadence which highlights recent room renovation projects and planned projects at The Cromwell, Aria, The Cosmopolitan, and W Las Vegas. MGM Resorts has been, and appears to be significantly more active when it comes to keeping their hotel product up to date than Caesars. Other factors discussed include: Who has the better pools on the Strip? Regional casino presence. Buffet availability within resorts. What do you think? Which is better? MGM Resorts or Caesars in Las Vegas?
